#3 - New Covenant
A few weeks ago, we learned that everything in scripture points to Jesus. What we're now beginning to see as we continue our journey through God's word, is the unfolding of God's plan to transition the Old Covenant which had become about rules and ritual, to the New Covenant which is about relationship and sacrifice. God sent prophets in the Old Testament to preach and call the nation of Israel to repentance. One of those prophets was the prophet Jeremiah. Jeremiah's life wasn't easy by any means, in fact, his ministry was marked as a tough road and in his legacy, he became known as the weeping prophet. He cared deeply for his people, and God used his words to usher in a new era.
“For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the LORD: I will put My law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be My people. And no longer shall each one teach his neighbor and each his brother, saying, ‘Know the LORD,’ for they shall all know Me, from the least of them to the greatest, declares the LORD. For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.” Jeremiah 31:33-34
