#1 - Gospel
Mark was the youngest biographer of Jesus who had a string of failures in his ministry resume. But he never quit so that by the end of his life both Peter and Paul considered him a spiritual son. That’s why his gospel is such a valuable guide as a “Beginner’s Guide to Greatness.” He embedded Jesus’ best advice on how to achieve success in life.
This upcoming week's core verse is Mark 1:1, "The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God."
Typically when we hear the word Gospel, we immediately think of it in a religious context, but in this week's lesson we'll learn that the word Gospel means "good news!" Mark was the first Christian writer to use the term, and he did it in direct opposition to the emperor's claims to be the ruler of the world.
