Atonement: Day #16
In The Bible, the Israelites celebrated Yom Kippur. It was one of the most sacred holidays on the calendar of God people. On this day they would sacrifice a goat and sprinkle its blood on a “scapegoat”. For on this day atonement was made for Israel in this way to purify them, for a time.
Yet, Christ came to purify us once and for all from all sin and bring us peace with God.
When we say, “Go Live” the one adventure, part of this is to live a life that is HOLY. Jesus is our purification. This atonement Christ sanctifies us and would finish its work in us, so that our lives might reflect Jesus in every action. This atonement helps us resist the temptations in our lives, because Jesus resisted them, and his blood made it so he could live with us and overcome the sin within us. The Atonement Christ made, once and for all covers our sins, and we don’t know the full extent of that Grace.
Father, as our high priest, Jesus knows our weakness and our calling. In him we are called to be holy and we pray that you would finish your work in our lives, so that as we Go Live we might show the world your character. We pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
