Trust: Day #20

Do you remember trust-falling when you were a kid? A group of people would stand across from each other and you would fall back into their arms. This is a great picture of what Trusting Jesus is like. Trust is not just a feeling, it’s a choice we make. I used to think that trust was just something we felt or thought or just belief itself. In the trust-fall, I believe the people are behind me but TRUSTING them to catch me is different. As I’ve grown in my faith, I’ve learned that the way we live shows if we trust God or not. It’s the actions we take that show how much we trust.

When I make out my tithing check each month, I trust that God will help me to pay all our bills. When I say yes to a new adventure, I trust that God is going to lead me and guide me through it. When I send my kids into the world, I trust that God is going to keep them safe.

Father God, we want to be the people who stand up firmly and trust you wholeheartedly. We want to be unshakeable. We want to be resilient. We want to be bold. We know we can only do those things by depending on you completely. Help us to develop a deeper trust in you so that we can take those leaps of faith. We desperately need you and want to trust you more. Amen.
