One Church: Day #7
When you think about church certain ideas may come to mind: maybe a dusty chapel in a remote village or an elaborate cathedral with ornate windows. Maybe you are thinking of potluck lunches, Sunday morning sermons, or food pantries. To the first century church, there were these four things that came to mind: the teaching of the Apostles, fellowship of believers, breaking of Bread, and Prayer.
We do many things in our church buildings often to catalyze and encourage these four essential aspects of Church life. These things unite the church all around the country and the world. They work to unify the church and help the church live as she was intended. This is why they are so fundamental. May they help us be One Church with all believers around the world.
How does your experience with these encourage your faith?
Father, we are so grateful that we got to be a part of the global community known as your family, the church. We pray that you would help us to devote our lives to the teachings passed down through your Apostles, to fellowship as a demonstration of the Love of Christ, to breaking bread together as the church to remember how your son’s sacrifice sustains us.
